The Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival celebrated its 10-year anniversary in March 2013, bringing to beautiful Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, a week of world class music by international artists from across Mexico, the United States, Canada, Cuba, Spain, Japan, and Brazil. We had a wonderful 10-year anniversary and we hope you were able to join us in our celebration.
The Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival, governed by Zi-Guitar Fest AC, is a non-profit music festival whose mission is to generate tourism to beautiful Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, México, bringing world class musicians and appreciative audiences from across the globe for a week of live music in paradise, while promoting cultural exchange and raising funds to support arts and cultural initiatives within the community. We are looking forward to another great year in 2014 and as always, we need your help to make it happen. September 1, 2013 marks the start of our 2014 season. Artist submissions are now open and sponsorship sales are underway.
We are currently seeking submissions from guitarists in any genre, deadlines for submissions are December 1, 2013.
The Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival is a GUITAR festival for GUITARISTS only.
Submissions by musicians other than guitarists will not be considered. (Therefore, full bands, even if they have one or more guitarists, and/or singers or other artists who wish to accompany a guitarist but that do not play guitar themselves, will not be considered.) The invited artists are guitarists in solo, duo or trio configurations, in any genre: flamenco, classical, blues, folk, jazz, rock, etc., from all across the world. Selected artists receive their airfare and accommodations, food and transportation for the week, but NO PAY.
If you would like to submit an application for participation in the 2014 ZIGF, please visit the submissions page of our website http://www.zihuafest.info/prospective-musicians/submissions-2014/ where you will find all the necessary steps to submit an application. Submissions are free, but we do require that artists submit certain materials and fill out a form. Artists who do not follow the submission procedures will not be considered.
Past participating artists have included world class and critically acclaimed guitarists from all across the globe, and have included winners of some of the music industry´s highest honors: Grammy, Country Music, MTV, Canadian Guitar Superstar, award winners among others. Every year we receive 100s of submissions and we are always delighted at the number of talented musicians who would like to come to Zihuatanejo. The feedback we get from musicians every year is that it is one of their favorite festivals, many want to come back every year. If you are a guitarist and would like to be a part of our event, we would love to have your submission. Artists are announced in January every year.
The Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival is funded almost exclusively by individuals and small community businesses. We have community and corporate sponsor packages available and our sponsorship sales for 2014 are now underway. We have sponsorship opportunities from 2,500 pesos to 25,000 dollars.
