Welcome to Another Day in Paradise.
As the final notes of the Fourth Annual Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival waft plaintively away for one more year, and the rumble of Semana Santa looms upon the horizon…We realize it’s April and once again we have come to the end of another season.
Even after 8 years April still manages to sneak up and surprise us each year, shock us into philosophical musings about the passage of time. This year is no different. Time marches on, minutes become hours and hours become years. Here is Zihuatanejo, we trick ourselves into believing we can stop time, if only by enjoying our moments so fully…and perhaps in the end that is the secret. This year I took my nose off the grindstone long enough to literally sit back and enjoy the music. I highly recommend it. When a few hours of peaceful, live-music-induced bliss can loom larger in your memory than six months of mental frenzy, you know you have stumbled upon some sort of significant truth. Or perhaps it is merely the haze of exhaustion–from 10 days of staying out way too late–that has inspired the stumbling! But philosophical truths aside, it is April and our season is coming to an end. So I recommend getting out there and enjoying it while you can!
Last month we celebrated the 50th edition of ADiP and I want to thank all of the past and present advertisers, collaborators, and contributors, who came out to help us celebrate. And sincere thanks to everyone else who has supported us over the years, it takes way more people than you realize to get this magazine together each month, and it has taken several hundred of you to get ADiP to the end of our eighth season. So here’s to you and have a great summer!
Until next time,
